A 16-year-old male sustained a gunshot wound to the wrist on Saturday evening in Peoria, Illinois. The Peoria Police Department responded to reports of shots fired in the 1100 block of South Western Avenue at approximately 7:25 p.m., according to spokesperson Semone Roth. Upon arrival, officers discovered the teenager with non-life-threatening injuries; he was promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment. At this time, no information regarding potential suspects has been released, and the incident remains under active investigation.
This shooting adds to a series of recent violent incidents involving juveniles in Peoria. Earlier this week, a 16-year-old boy was arrested in connection with a fatal shooting near Manual High School. The Peoria Police Department reported that the juvenile was taken into custody and charged with homicide following the incident.
