Washington, IL – Speak Out Illinois LLC today announced the launch of a bold statewide initiative to combat gun violence, framing it as a public health crisis threatening families and communities from Chicago to rural towns.

"Our goal is clear: reduce shootings, save lives, and build safer neighborhoods," said Jake Partee, CEO and Co‑Founder. "This won't be easy—but avoiding the truth is no longer acceptable. Illinois deserves better."

1. Tighten background checks & close loopholes

   Ensure all firearm transfers include universal, comprehensive screening 

2. Fund community-based violence intervention

   Lean on proven programs like Cure Violence to mediate conflicts before they become tragedies 

3. Uphold responsible gun ownership

   Promote secure storage, accountability, and safety training—because rights come with responsibility.

4. Expand mental health & crisis resources

   Recognize that gun violence often stems from untreated trauma and distress; early support can save lives.

5. Advocate for life-saving legislation

   Support measures like Karina’s Law, which enables removal of firearms in domestic violence situations
